SAN MARCOS, Texas—South Dakota senior Kyle McKelvey placed sixth in the hammer throw to pace the Coyotes at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational on Friday at Bobcat Stadium.
 
McKelvey sent the hammer 175 feet, six inches on his final throw to improve to sixth place.
 
Senior Kelsey Barrett led a trio of Coyotes in the 1,500 meters. Barrett clocked 4:45.46 for eighth, while sophomore Lindsay Joyce followed right behind in 4:45.87 in ninth. Freshman Megan Billington took 16th in 4:51.12.
 
Seniors Mubarik Musa and Isaac Allen took 21st and 23rd in the 1,500-meter run. Musa finished in 4:11.27, while Allen crossed the finish in 4:12.61.
 
Senior Erik Jorgensen cleared 14-11 for seventh in the pole vault.
 
Freshman Alex Borchers took 14th in the 400-meter hurdles after crossing the line in 55.27.
 
The Coyotes continue competition at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational tomorrow at noon.
