BELLE FOURCHE, S.D.—Coyote freshman
Ella Kubas placed fifth at the West Regional Qualifier to pace the Coyotes on Sunday morning at the Belle Fourche Reservoir inside Rocky Point Recreation Area.
Kubas completed the course in 1:05:30.4 for the second-fastest time by a Coyote on the course. Sophomore
Leah Drengenberg, who owns the fastest time from last season in a dual with Black Hills State, finished sixth on Sunday in 1:05:50.2.

Sammy Whitting took 11th overall, eighth among Division I runners, with a time of 1:06:58.9 to round out the Coyote scorers.
South Dakota finished runner-up to Arizona State for the second-straight regional qualifier, tallying 19 team points in Division I scoring. Both teams have already qualified for the USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships in November.

Payton Ryz finished 14th overall in 1:09:05.8 in her season opener. Freshman
Grace Johnson took 24th in 1:16:49.5.
South Dakota hosts the first home triathlon meet in program history next Sunday, Sept. 22. The USD Invitational will take place at Lake Yankton in Yankton, South Dakota, with a start time of 9 a.m.
