VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota junior
Matt Slagus launched the weight throw more than three feet past his personal best to win the elite competition on Friday night of the Dakota Realty Alumni Meet inside the DakotaDome.
Slagus threw the weight 65 feet, 1 ½ inches, to win the competition. The mark moves him to second in South Dakota program history. It ranks fifth in the Summit League and 45th nationally this season. Coyote alum
Ethan Fenchel jumped back in the ring to finish second with a throw of 64-7 ¼. Sophomore
Jessie Sullivan took seventh in the field.

Lara Boman, now competing for Velaasa, won the women's invitational weight throw with a new DakotaDome record of 74-3 ¼. The previous record of 73-1 ¼ was set last year by Michaela Dendinger.
Junior
Callie Henrich was the top collegian in the women's weight throw, placing third overall, with a mark of 64-8 ½. Senior
Emilee Shostrom recorded a four-foot personal best of 63-3 ½ to take fourth in the field. The mark ranks third all-time in USD history and moves her to third in the Summit this season.
In the women's pentathlon,
Kamberlyn Lamer took first place with a score of 3,556 points. A transfer from Dakota Wesleyan, she will join the Coyotes in uniform for her final outdoor season.
Junior
Holly Gerberding finished just a few points behind Lamer, improving her Summit League-leading mark with a score of 3,533 points. She moves to fourth in USD history with the score. Sophomore
Liberty Justus placed third with a personal best 3,335 points. She cracks the Coyote top-10 in the ninth spot.
On the men's side, redshirt-sophomore
Kenneth McMahan leads the heptathlon after four events on day one. He recorded personal bests in three of those events, including 7.00 seconds for the 60 meters, 21-0 ¾ for the long jump and 6-9 in the high jump.
