The Weekend
South Dakota opens the season with a pair of competitions hosted by Black Hills State. Up first is the BHSU Relays on Saturday held at 10 a.m. (Central) in Spearfish, South Dakota.
The Coyotes' first full triathlon race will be the Black Hills Collegiate Cup on Sunday. The race will begin at 2 p.m. (Central) at the Rocky Point Recreation Area in the Belle Fourche Reservoir. Seven collegiate squads will compete head-to-head in the triathlon.
The Coyotes
It'll be a new lineup this fall with only two of the six athletes from last year's national meet returning. Sophomore
Chelsea Webber is the Coyotes' top returner after finishing 28th, while senior
Verena Vesely took 42nd at the national meet in 2022. Other returners include juniors
Franziska Neck,
Ella Perras and
Kayla Ribbink. The Coyotes brought in a pair of freshmen in
Lulu Ehinger and
Ella Spitz, in addition to Southwest Minnesota State transfer
Grace Busch.
The Competition
There will be seven Division I and II teams competing this weekend with the Coyotes taking on Denver, San Francisco, Black Hills State, Cal Poly Humboldt, Colorado Mesa and MSU Billings.
