Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays
AUSTIN, Texas—South Dakota senior
Jacy Pulse advanced to the final of the women's 400-meter hurdles at the 96th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Thursday inside Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Pulse, a second-team All-American in the event last spring, clocked a season-opening time of 57.61 seconds to advance to tomorrow's final. She won her heat and took fifth overall in the preliminary.
Also posting top-10 finishes on Thursday evening were a pair of Coyotes in the 1,500 meters. Fifth-year senior
Ella Byers finished eighth in the 'A' final of the women's 1,500 meters with a time of 4:32.52. Redshirt-sophomore
Mason Sindelar was ninth in the 'B' final of the men's 1,500 meters by clocking 3:55.89.
Senior
Eerik Haamer placed 10th in the pole vault with a height of 16-10 ¾ (5.15m) and senior
Jaidyn Garrett was 11th on the women's side with a clearance of 13-7 ¼ (4.15m).
Sophomore
Carson Lauterbach finished 12th in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:44.89.
Junior
Averi Schmeichel finished 21st in the preliminaries of the women's 400 hurdles behind Pulse. She clocked 1:00.49, three-tenths of a second off her personal best time. Sophomore
Bre Dunn and freshman
Hadley Cheatum also raced in the 400 hurdles, clocking 1:06.72 and 1:08.61, respectively. On the men's side, sophomore
Mikael Grace and senior
Davion Williams clocked 56.69 seconds and 56.77 seconds, respectively, for the 400 hurdles.
Texas State Bobcat Invitational
SAN MARCOS, Texas—South Dakota senior
Abbie Schmidt set a new personal record en route to taking the 3,000-meter steeplechase title at the Bobcat Invitational held at Texas State Track & Field Complex on Thursday.
Schmidt cruised to the finish line in 11:19.63, 11 seconds faster than her personal best, in the Coyotes' season opener. Fourth-year junior
McKenna Herrmann finished runner-up in 11:21.17, returning to the steeplechase for the first time since her freshman season in 2021. Redshirt-freshman
Alexus Sindelar was fourth in 11:30.20 for her steeplechase debut.
Fifth-year senior
Meredith Clark took fourth in the discus with a throw of 167-6 (51.06m).
The Summit League Indoor Newcomer of the Championship, freshman
Carsen Staehr opened his outdoor slate by cracking the Coyote Top 10 in the men's long jump. He jumped a personal best of 23-9 ½ (7.25m) for fifth in the 'B' section of the long jump at Texas State. He had four jumps past 23 feet in the competition.
South Dakota is back in action at both the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and the Texas State Bobcat Invitational on Friday.
