PREVIEW: South Dakota Track & Field heads west for weekend in California

The South Dakota track and field program leaves the Midwest for the final time before postseason competition this weekend as they partake in the Pacific Coast Invitational, the Bryan Clay Invitational, the Beach Invitational, and the Mt. SAC Relays.
 
MEET INFO
The Coyotes will bounce around Southern California this weekend competing in four meets over three days. Thursday, the Coyotes will be split between the Bryan Clay Invitational in Asuza and the Pacific Coast Invitational in Long Beach. The Coyotes will be at the Bryan Clay again on Friday, but will also have athletes at the Beach Invitational and the Mt. SAC Relays. Before heading back to Vermillion Saturday, the Coyotes will be at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Beach Invitational.

SUMMIT LEAGUE PEAK PERFORMERS
The Coyotes have compiled five Summit League weekly honors this spring, including three of the five athletes to earn honors this week.

NATIONAL RANKINGS
In the third week of the USTFCCCA Outdoor Rankings, the Coyote women's pole vault squad ranks first in the nation with their top four vaulters all ranked inside the top 40 in the country. The men's pole vault squad ranks sixth after their third week of competition.
 
In other top events for the Coyotes, the women rank 19th in the steeplechase and 23rd in the 400-meter hurdles.
 
The Coyote men jumped up to No. 12 in the Midwest Rankings, and the women rank No. 13 in the region. In the conference rankings the Coyote men are third and the women are fourth at the third rating checkpoint of the season.
