PREVIEW: Coyotes split for Tyson Invitational, SDSU Classic

South Dakota track and field is sending athletes to two meets this weekend, the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. and the SDSU Classic in Brookings, S.D. Friday and Saturday.
 
MEET INFORMATION
For the Tyson Invitational Friday and Saturday, South Dakota will have a handful athletes competing against some of the premier athletes in the country. The meet is being streamed on SEC Network Plus and live results are provided by Flash Timing. A final meet schedule will be announced prior to competition Friday.
 
South Dakota will also send athletes up Interstate 29 to Brookings for the SDSU Classic Friday and Saturday. Action begins at 3 p.m. Friday and at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Live streams will be available on the Summit League Network powered by Midco Sports Plus. Live Results are provided by Dakota Timing.
 
NATIONAL RANKINGS
The third national, regional, and position group rankings of the season were released Tuesday, with the South Dakota women ranking climbing eight spots to 31st in the third national ranking of the season. The Coyote men climbed one spot to No. 75. Both Coyote squads are the top nationally ranked team in the Summit League.
 
The Coyote men have entered the top 10 in the Midwest Regional Rankings, now at No. 9. USD is the top ranked Summit League school in the region. South Dakota's women are now 11th in the Midwest, jumping NDSU to be the top ranked Summit League school in the region.
 
In the event squad rankings, South Dakota's both South Dakota has five event groups inside the Top 25 in the NCAA, highlighted by the pole vault squads who are 2nd (women) and 7th (men) respectively.
 
The Coyote men's shot put squad ranks 12th in the NCAA. The men's 60 hurdles are 25th in the country. USD's women's triple jumpers are 17th.
 
South Dakota is the top ranked Summit League school in five events: women's pole vault (2nd), men's pole vault (7th), women's triple jump (17th), women's 800m (31st), women's 3000m (67th).
 
NCAA LEADERS
The NCAA Indoor Championships will be held in Fayetteville, Arkansas on March 13-14. The Top 16 in every event qualify for the championships. Here are the Coyotes who are in the top 50 of their events in the NCAA so far this season.

SUMMIT LEAGUE PEAK PERFORMERS
Three Coyotes received Summit League weekly honors this week. Landon Olson cleared 7-1 in the high jump to claim the men's field honor, Berkeley Engelland ran the top 800-meter time in the Summit League this season at 2:08.12 for the women's track honor, and Anna Willis cleared 14-8 ¼ in the pole vault for her second women's field honor this season.
 
After three honors this week, South Dakota has earned six weekly honors this season. The full list of Coyote honorees this season by week:
