New school record set on first day of Tyson Invitational

South Dakota track and field took to the track on the first day of the Tyson Invitational and SDSU Classic in Fayetteville, Ark. and Brookings, S.D. Friday, with Mason Sindelar breaking his own school record in the 800-meters.

TOP PERFORMERS
• Mason Sindelar took fourth in the men's 800-meters at the Tyson Invitational, running 1:48.62. His time is a new school record that ranks 47th in the NCAA this season and is the top time in the Summit League this year so far.
• Also running in the 800 at the Tyson Invitational, Tommy Hensley ran 1:51.34, good for seventh on the USD Indoor Top 10 list.
• Three Coyote men clear 17-0 or better in the pole vault, highlighted by Caelan Harland and Wyatt Stewart placing first and second at 17-6 ½. Beau Karst set a season's best 17-0 ¾.
• Jaden Damiano placed ninth in the 60-meter hurdle prelims with a time of 7.89. Mikael Grace was 15th in 8.01.
• Geneva Timmerman recorded a top-10 finish in the Championship Division with an eighth place time in 9:30.15.
• Drew Beason ran a new 3,000-meter best of 9:43.09 for 17th in the University Division of the event. Her time is 8th in USD indoor history and second in the Summit League so far this season.
• Isaac Ochoa ran second in the 3,000-meters in 8:13.19 to set the fourth fastest time in USD indoor history.
