The South Dakota track and field program is making the trek out west this week, competing in four meets in the Long Beach, California area.

SCHEDULE FOR THIS WEEK
South Dakota is splitting up to compete at four meets over three days in California. Here where to find the Coyotes this week:
Starting Thursday, a group of Coyote distance runners will compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific, starting at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, or Noon Central. Action will conclude late Thursday evening, around 7 p.m. Pacific or 9 p.m. Central.

The second meet the Coyotes have competitors at Thursday is the Pacific Coast Invitational at Long Beach State. The track events start at 11:15 a.m. Pacific Time (1:15 p.m. Central). In the field events, the men's hammer throw is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Pacific (10 a.m. Central).

A few Coyotes are again scheduled to be at the Bryan Clay Friday, starting around Noon Pacific Time. Action in the 5000-meters is scheduled to run until approximately Midnight on the West Coast, or 2 a.m. Central.
South Dakota has athletes scheduled to compete at the Mt. SAC Relays Friday as well. The action gets started around 11 a.m. Pacific and the last events the Coyotes are scheduled for should begin shortly before 6 p.m. Pacific Time.

South Dakota is scheduled to have runners in the 1,500-meters Saturday at the Bryan Clay. There are open sections that begin at 8:20 a.m. Pacific and the evening session of 1,500-meters doesn't begin until 5 p.m. Pacific Time.

South Dakota's athletes at Saturday's Mt. SAC Relays starts at 1:30 p.m. and concludes shortly after 5 p.m. Pacific.

Long Beach State hosts a second meet this weekend, hosting the Beach Invitational Friday and Saturday. The preliminary schedule starts with field events at 9 a.m. Friday and track events at 8:15 a.m. Friday. Saturday starts with both track and field events at 10 a.m.

NATIONAL RANKINGS
The USFTCCCA weekly event squad rankings for the third checkpoint of the season has South Dakota with three men's event groups and two women's event groups in the top 50.

The men's pole vault squad is fourth in the NCAA. Men's discus is 27
th and the shot put is 41
st. The Coyote women are 11
th in the NCAA and the 400-meter hurdles is 20
th.
