South Dakota Men's Swimming and Diving Team Records 130-109 Dual Win over St. Cloud State; Women's Team Falls, 131-112, to the Huskies

ST. CLOUD, MINN. - The South Dakota men's swimming and diving team improved to 7-2 with a 130-109 dual win over St. Cloud State on Saturday in St. Cloud, Minn. The South Dakota women's team fell to 6-4 in dual competitions after dropping 131-112 decision to the Huskies.

The Coyotes men's team picked up nine individual or relay titles at the meet. The USD women had six individual or relay titles.

John Murman led the USD men's team with two individual wins and was a member of the winning 200 medley relay (1:39.78) which also included Curtis Benson, Josh Fleming and Pat Albertson. Murman won the 50 freestyle in 21.58 and captured the 100 freestyle in 47.55. Benson was also a double winner by capturing the 200 breaststroke in 2:18.51 and he finished second in the 200 backstroke in 2:00.88. Albertson won the 200 butterfly in 2:06.44 and swam on both winning relays. He was a member of the winning 200 freestyle relay that finished in 1:29.70. Other squad members on the relay included David Lind, Scott Bruce and Mark Bryant. Lind also won two individual events, capturing the 100 freestyle in 10:18.25 and winning the 500 freestyle in 5:01.14. Tim Murman picked up a title in the 200 freestyle in 1:49.97.

The Coyote women's team was led by Leita Rolfe, who had two individual wins and was a member of the victorious 200 medley relay that finished in 1:51.32. Other members of that squad included Megan Gordon, Erin Wagoner and Stacy Bjorlie. Rolfe won the 400 IM in 4:39.82 and also took a title in the 200 breaststroke in 2:31.09. Gordon won the 200 backstroke in 2:11.11. Jessica Tietz captured the 1000 freestyle in 11:08.01. Stacy Bjorlie also had had a win in the 50 freestyle, going 25.28. Jill Smolczyk won the 3-meter diving with a score of 237.90 points and was second in the 1-meter diving with 237.90 points.
