2016 SDSU Jim Emmerich Alumni Invitational ResultsVERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota won four events competing at the SDSU Jim Emmerich Alumni Invitational on Saturday.
The Coyote men were led by sophomore sprinter
Gawain Williams, who won the 60 meters and 200 meters. Williams clocked 6.77 seconds for 60 meters, just .02 off his personal best, and 21.99 in the 200 meters. Freshman
Jovane Parkinson took sixth in the 200 meters (22.61 seconds).
Senior
Analisa Huschle leaped past her indoor personal best in the long jump with a mark of 19-6. She remains second all-time in program history. Huschle also finished fourth in the 60 meters (7.79 seconds) and eighth in the 200 meters (25.55 seconds). Freshman teammate
Karina Dufoe was nearby in sixth in the 60 meters (7.84 seconds) and ninth in the 200 meters (25.62 seconds).
Sophomore
Shanice Cannigan ran a personal-best 8.84 seconds to finish runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles. The Coyotes finished 1-2 in the 300-meter hurdles. Freshman
Alanisse Williams won in 45.97 seconds and freshman
Haley Bruggeman was runner-up (46.12 seconds).
The Coyote men also won the 300-meter hurdles with freshman
Alex Borchers crossing the line in 39.97 seconds. Sophomore
Tomas Kamenik was fourth (42.11 seconds).
Senior distance duo
Katie Wetzstein and
Kelsey Barrett placed second and fourth, respectively, in the 3,000-meter run. Wetzstein missed her personal best by four seconds, clocking 9:44.47. Barrett crossed the finish line in 10:03.42.
Redshirt-junior
Mach Dojiok ran an indoor personal best of 1:52.07 in the 800 meters to move into fifth on South Dakota's all-time charts. Freshman Nathan Wendt was eighth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:48.05.
After clearing 6-10 ¾ in the high jump, junior
Tyler Frank secured second place and notched a new personal best. Frank moves into seventh on the program's all-time charts.
Freshman sprinter and jumper
Joe Reagan finished runner-up in the long jump (23-8 ¼) and eighth in the 60 meters (7.13 seconds).
Junior
Ashley Thompson placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 38-9.
Redshirt-juniors
Madison Mills and
Hunter Wilkes finished second and fourth in the pole vault. Mills tied her indoor personal best of 13-5 ¼ from her freshman season. Wilkes jumped 12-11 ½.
South Dakota placed three in the top-five of the men's pole vault. Senior
Peter Chapman finished runner-up (16-0 ¾), senior
Erik Jorgensen placed fourth (15-1), and freshman
Kaleb Ellis was fifth (14-7 ¼).
Junior
Danielle Waldner placed third in the shot put (49-2 ¼) and sixth in the weight throw (54-9 ½). Senior
Meghan Dennis took eighth in the shot put with a personal best 47-1.
In a rare indoor event, freshman
Mitchell Fritz took fourth in the 600 meters (1:23.14). He was four seconds off the school record mark.
Sophomore
Brooke Ireland moved into eighth on the Coyotes' all-time 400 meters list with a clocking of 56.69 seconds. She finished fifth in the race.
Sophomore
Colette Christensen tied for fifth in the high jump by clearing 5-5.
Senior
Connor Fitzsimmons finished sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 42-11 ¾.
A transfer from the University of Mary, junior
Jay Cooper took seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (8.42 seconds).
Coyote volunteer assistant coach
Cody Snyder repeated as the victor in the indoor discus with a throw of 183-6. Snyder set the indoor school and state record a year ago at the same meet with a throw of 189-9.
The Coyotes travel to Minneapolis, Minn., for the Jack Johnson Classic next Friday and Saturday.
