2016 Husker Spring Invitational Results
LINCOLN, Neb.—South Dakota junior
Danielle Waldner improved her school record in winning the shot put at the Husker Spring Invitational at Ed Weir Track on Saturday.
As a team, the Coyote women finished runner-up behind Nebraska with 110.50 points. The Coyote men took fourth with 65 points.
Waldner launched the shot put 51 feet, 3 ¾ inches to improve her school record by nine inches. In addition to taking the shot put title, Waldner threw the hammer 178-10 for third place.
Senior
Analisa Huschle ran into the headwind to capture the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.32 seconds. Huschle finished runner-up in the 100 meters in 11.91 seconds. Huschle also took fourth in the long jump with a leap of 19-0 ¾.
Junior
Emily Brigham took the pole vault with a season-best height of 13-3.
Senior
Kelsey Barrett won the 3,000 meters by crossing the finish line in 10:06.53. She was followed by freshman
Megan Billington in third place with a time of 10:17.04.
In addition to the women's four individual titles, senior
Katie Wetzstein finished runner-up in the 800 meters with a time of 2:11.79. Wetzstein was a second away from first.
Sophomore
Brooke Ireland took third in the 400 meters with a time of 57.39.
Three USD men finished runner-up in their respective events. Senior
Kyle McKelvey tossed the shot put 60-5 ¼ for second place. He's the only Coyote in program history to break 60 feet in the event outdoors.
Senior
Teivaskie Lewin finished runner-up in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.19.
Senior
Mubarik Musa raced to second in the 3,000 meters by clocking an outdoor best 8:49.15.
Sophomore
Gawain Williams took third in the 100 meters with a time of 10.52 seconds.
Junior
Jay Cooper placed third in the 400 hurdles after clocking 53.49 seconds.
South Dakota track and field splits its squad between four meets next weekend highlighted by the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays in southern California and the Sioux City Relays in Sioux City, Iowa.
