Jeff O'Connell and
Analisa Huschle joined juniors
Tyler Frank and
Danielle Waldner as Summit League champions on the second day of the Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the Lillibridge Track Complex.
Waldner broke her shot put school record for the fourth time this season after throwing 53 feet, 1 ½ inches, to win her second Summit League shot put title. Waldner last won in 2014 when she was named the Newcomer of the Championship. Senior
Meghan Dennis took eighth.
Frank captured his fourth consecutive Summit League high jump title after clearing 6-9 ½. Frank has won back-to-back indoor and outdoor titles in the event. O'Connell added a sixth-place finish in the high jump and senior
Teivaskie Lewin took eighth.
Huschle defended her long jump title with a leap of 19-8. Junior
Ashley Thompson, in the third long jump of her Coyote career, earned all-league honors in third at 19-2 ½. Sophomore
Shanice Cannigan took fourth.
O'Connell captured his second career Summit League outdoor title with his first coming in 2014. O'Connell leaped 23-11 ¾ to win today. Freshman
Joe Reagan added all-Summit honors in third at 23-8. Lewin took fourth and senior
Connor Fitzsimmons was eighth.
Senior
Kyle McKelvey earned all-Summit honors with a runner-up performance in the shot put. McKelvey threw 60-1 ¼. Junior
Dustin Valind added a point for the Coyotes in eighth.
Senior
Isaac Allen placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:31.83. Sophomore
Brice Cowman added an eighth-place finish.
Cannigan added a fifth-place finish in the high jump.
After two day of competition, freshman
Hunter Leighton wrapped up competition in the decathlon. Leighton took seventh with 5,225 points.
Freshman
Madeline Huglen placed seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:34.91. The mark is the seventh-fastest in USD history.
The Coyotes also qualified for finals in numerous running events. Finalists include freshman

South Dakota currently sits second in the men's and women's team scores. The women have 96.5 points and the men have totaled 64 points.
The Summit League Championships resumes Saturday with the field events at 11 a.m. and the track events at 12:20 p.m.
