2016 Summit League Championships Final Results
VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota captured six event titles on the final day of the Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the Lillibridge Track Complex. The Coyotes finished runner-up in both the men's and women's team races. South Dakota totaled 213.50 points in the women's race and 196 points in the men's race.
South Dakota freshman
Joe Reagan was voted the Newcomer of the Championship by the league coaches. Reagan totaled 16 points in the meet. He finished runner-up in the 100 meters in 10.71 seconds, third in the long jump in 23-8 and ran a leg of the runner-up 4x100-meter relay. The Coyotes have taken home four of the last five Newcomer of the Championship awards.
Sophomore
Jake David captured South Dakota's fourth consecutive men's pole vault title, knocking out the competition after clearing 17-5. The Coyotes had three of the top four. Senior
Peter Chapman was a half-inch shy of his personal best after jumping 17-1. Senior
Erik Jorgensen vaulted a career best 16-7 ¼ for fourth.
The Coyotes swept the men's and women's short hurdle races.
Senior
Teivaskie Lewin clocked 13.62 seconds to capture the 110 hurdles. The time proved faster than the 13.97 Summit League meet record, but the 3.7 meters per second tailwind was above permissible limits. Junior
Jay Cooper finished fourth and freshman
Hunter Leighton was eighth.
Lewin totaled 24 points during the meet, competing in six events for the Coyotes. In addition to his hurdle title, he ran on the Coyotes runner-up 4x100 relay, fourth in the 200 meters, fourth in the long jump, eighth in the high jump and eighth in the triple jump.
Sophomore
Shanice Cannigan breezed to a win in the 100 hurdles with a personal best 13.88 seconds. Cannigan was joined on the podium by junior
Ashley Thompson in third place at 14.37 seconds. Freshman
Alanisse Williams was eighth.
Cooper dove across the finish line to capture the 400 hurdles in 52.48 seconds. The time is a personal record for Cooper and the sixth-best in USD program history. Freshman
Alex Borchers placed fifth and sophomore
Tomas Kamenik was eighth.
Sophomore
Gawain Williams cruised across the finish in a personal best 10.26 seconds to defend his 100 meter crown. Reagan finished runner-up.
Senior
Kelsey Barrett completed the 10,000-meter and 5,000-meter double for the meet, winning gold in both. Barrett captured the 5,000 meters Saturday in 17:10.26.
The men's 4x100 relay of Reagan, Lewin, senior
Jeff O'Connell and Williams finished runner-up in 40.56 seconds. Both South Dakota and Oral Roberts finished under the Summit League Championship record of 40.64.
Senior
Katie Wetzstein finished runner-up in the 1,500 meters in 4:32.40. Wetzstein improved from third place a year ago. Sophomore
Lindsay Joyce took fourth and freshman
Liz Bohn was eighth. Wetzstein added a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 meters and was fifth in the 800 meters.
Cannigan added a runner-up finish in the 400 hurdles in 1:00.45. Williams was fourth and freshman
Haley Bruggeman took seventh.
Williams added a runner-up finish in the 200 meters in 21.10 seconds. Lewin took fourth and freshman
Mario Magana was sixth.
Senior
Analisa Huschle earned all-league honors in a pair of sprinting events to add to her long jump title from Friday. Huschle finished runner-up in the 200 meters in 24.07 seconds and placed third in the 100 meters in 11.70 seconds. Freshman teammate
Karina Dufoe took fifth in the 100 meters and eighth in the 200 meters.
Sophomore
Ethan Fenchel took third in the discus in 162-7. Senior
Kyle McKelvey was fifth and junior
Dustin Valind was seventh.
Senior
Riley Johnson placed third in the discus with a personal best throw of 151-7. Senior
Meghan Dennis took fifth and freshman
Jacy Embray was seventh.
The women's 4x100-meter relay, consisting of junior
Ravan Kott, Dufoe, sophomore
Brooke Ireland and Huschle, placed third in 45.58 seconds. The relay was third a year ago as well.
Senior
Mubarik Musa took fourth in the 5,000 meters.
Thompson took fourth in the triple jump and sophomore
Colette Christensen was eighth.
Ireland and Magana each placed fourth in the women's and men's 400 meters. Freshman
Brett Prenger took seventh in the 400 meters.
The Coyotes men's and women's 4x400-meter relays both placed fourth.

Eldon Warner was seventh in the 800 meters and junior
Mach Dojiok was eighth.
