CLERMONT, Fla.—A quartet of Coyotes represented their home countries on Saturday, March 7, in the elite race of the Clermont PanAmerican Cup.
South Dakota sophomore
Leah Drengenberg completed the competition in one hour, one minute and 54 seconds. The time is faster than her collegiate best of 1:02:06 from the 2019 Central Regional. Drengenberg posted the fastest time out of the water, clocking a 750-meter swim of 9:13. A native of Dixon, Illinois, Drengenberg finished 23rd in the race.
The Coyotes' Canadian duo of
Cass Dalbec and
Ella Kubas finished 32nd and 36th, respectively.
Dalbec, hailing from Brampton, Ontario, finished 32nd in 1:03:58. Dalbec redshirted her freshman season in 2019.
Kubas, hailing from Milton, Ontario, clocked 1:04:13 for 36th place in the field. Kubas posted a collegiate best of 1:02:12 at the Central Regional last fall.
Sophomore
Sammy Whitting, hails from down under in Brisbane, Australia. Whitting took 43rd in the elite competition with a time of 1:06:12. She owns a collegiate best of 1:04:03 from her freshman season at the 2018 Central Regional.
South Dakota enters its third season of women's triathlon in the fall of 2020.
