Ella Byers cruised to a new meet record in the distance medley relay Friday night at the Summit League Championships inside the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility.
South Dakota captured four Summit League titles on the opening day and the Coyotes lead the men's team race after day one.
The women's distance medley relay were one of three teams to run under the previous Summit League record time. Brouwer, Pulse, Jochum and Byers combined for a time of 11:36.56. The mark also breaks a 16-year-old South Dakota program record. The quartet captured the Coyotes' second Summit title in the distance medley relay since joining the league in 2012.
Senior
Marshall Faurot successfully defended his title in the men's pole vault, clearing a personal best of 18-1 ¼ (5.52m) to earn the victory. It was South Dakota's eighth-straight title in the men's pole vault and 10th overall. Faurot's height ties for 12th in the nation this season.

Eerik Haamer earned all-Summit honors with a runner-up finish, clearing 17-7 ¼ (5.37m). Junior
Spencer Buley joined the 17-foot club by clearing a personal best of 17-1 ½ (5.22m). He took fourth in the competition. Junior
Tre Young took fifth clearing the same height. Freshman
Wyatt Stewart was eighth with a height of 15-7 ¾ (4.77m).
A 46-year-old USD school record went down in the men's long jump tonight. Sophomore
Bennett Schwenn leaped a personal best of 24-11 (7.59m) in winning his first league title. Schwenn improved on his runner-up finish from a year ago, capturing USD's first long jump title since 2020 and fifth overall. Freshman
Carsen Staehr took fifth in 23-6 ¾ (7.18m).

Sammy Neil captured the women's title. She jumped a personal best mark of 20-1 ½ (6.13m). The mark ranks second in USD school history. Neil snags the Coyotes' second women's long jump title indoors and first since 2019.

Wyatt Pruce took fourth in the men's weight throw with a personal best throw of 60-4 ¼ (18.40m). He cracks the Coyote Top 10, moving to eighth in the event. Redshirt-sophomore
Tristan Gray was fifth in 59-11 (18.26m) and sophomore
Quincy Warren was sixth in 58-0 ½ (17.69m). Gray's mark ranks 10th in USD program history.

Meredith Clark took fourth and fifth in the women's weight throw. Campbell posted a mark of 60-11 ½ (18.58m) and Clark launched the weight throw 60-6 ¾ (18.46m).
Sophomore
Matayah YellowMule took fourth in the women's pentathlon competition with a score of 3,751 points. YellowMule leaped a season best 18-9 ¾ (5.73m) for second in the pentathlon's long jump competition and tied for second in the high jump.
Through four events of the men's heptathlon competition, the quartet of Coyotes competing are sitting in scoring position. Junior
