Coyotes claim eight events on day two of Summit League Indoor Championships

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – South Dakota track and field placed runner-up in the men's and women's team competitions at the Summit League Indoor Track & Field Championships that wrapped up Saturday afternoon.

TOP PERFORMERS
• South Dakota's men and women both placed second in the team competitions.
• South Dakota earned eight event wins Saturday to bring their weekend total to 12 of a 34 total events.
• The Coyotes swept two podiums Saturday: the women's 800-metres and the women's pole vault.
• In the women's 800-meters, Berkeley Engelland reset the meet record that Ellie Thomas broke Firday, running 2:07.40 to win. Thomas placed second in 2:09.30 and Calia Chaney third in 2:09.31.
• In the women's pole vault, Marleen Mülla took home the Summit League crown with a clearance of 14-3 ½. Anna Willis took second (13-3 ¾) and Eliza Aitken third (12-10).
• The Coyotes landed two athletes on the podium in the men's 60-meter hurdles and the men's 400-meters.
• South Dakota went 1-2 in the 60 hurdles, led by Jaden Damiano in 7.77 and Mikael Grace in 7.88.
• In the men's 400-meters, Evan Janzen's PR of 47.82 was good enough for first place, followed by Braxton Smith's 47.97 for third.
Landon Olson cleared 7-1 to win the men's high jump and Kenya Harris recorded 41-2 ¼ (14.91m) to win the triple jump.
• The men's 4x400 squad set an Indoor Top 10 time of 3:14.55, the first indoor top 10 in the event since 2019.
