YANKTON, S.D.—South Dakota junior
Joe Lynch posted another seven-foot mark in the high jump to highlight 13 event wins with a limited squad in action Wednesday at the Mount Marty Twilight held at Williams Field.
The reigning Summit League Field Peak Performer of the Week, Lynch won the high jump in 7-0 ¼ (2.14m), just a quarter-inch shy of his personal best set earlier this season. It marks his third career jump past the seven-foot mark. He leads the Summit and ranks 19th nationally this spring.
On the women's side, junior
Danii Anglin cleared a new Summit-leading height of 5-9 ¼ (1.76m) to win the high jump competition.
Junior
Caelyn Valandra-Prue swept the women's 200- and 400-meter dash. She clocked a wind-legal 24.56 seconds for the 200 meters and 57.13 seconds for the 400 meters.
Sophomore
Quincy Warren took first in the men's hammer throw with a distance of 183-11 (56.06m).
Senior
Riley Griffith captured the women's hammer throw by launching the hammer 167-8 (51.11m).
The Coyotes swept the men's and women's 10,000-meter run with freshman
Piercze Marshall and redshirt-sophomore
Alyssa Gerth making their debuts at the distance. Marshall took the tape in 31:34.34 and Gerth crossed the line in 38:47.33.
Redshirt-sophomore
Mason Sindelar won the 800-meter run with a season best performance of 1:53.74.
USD swept the pole vault competitions as well. Redshirt-junior
Tre Young cleared 16-4 ¾ (5.00m) to win the men's vault.
Marleen Mülla, who's redshirting this outdoor season, posted the top mark on the women's side with a height of 14-3 ¼ (4.35m). Senior
Jaidyn Garrett was the top collegian and second overall behind Mülla with a height of 13-4 ¼ (4.07m).
Freshman
Hadley Cheatum crossed the finish line in first for the 400-meter hurdles in 1:03.54.
Junior
Melanie Pankow took the tape in the 1,500-meter run with a clocking of 4:58.27.
South Dakota kicks off action at the Drake Relays tomorrow at the big blue oval inside Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
