Deb (Burrer) Schuster, a native of Mitchell, SD, ranks as one of the all-time greats in South Dakota women's basketball history. She played at a time when the Coyotes played a large number of their games against Divison I competition. 

When Schuster graduated in 1979, she held the school's all-time scoring record of 953 points. Twice, she led the Coyotes in scoring, averaging 16.8 points per game in 1976-77 and 16.1 points per game in 1977-78. Schuster also led USD in rebounding in 1976-77 with a school record 12.1 per game. She scored 27 more points on three occasions, including a career high and school record 35 points vs. Augustana on Jan. 26, 1977. 

During her sophomore campaign of 1977-78, Schuster became the first player in school history to reach 400 points in a season with 451. Schuster ranks eighth in career rebounds with 584. As a sophomore, she had 248 rebounds which is the third-best single season at USD.
