Jim Burt, sports director at KELO-TV in Sioux Falls, was inducted into the special contributor's category of the Coyotes Sports Hall of Fame, has been named the South Dakota Sportscaster of the Year seven times. He has been South Dakota's "Voice of the Coyotes" describing USD football and basketball action on the radio for over 20 years. Burt has also been a long time emcee at various Coyote athletic functions, including the USD Coyote Sports Hall of Fame. Burt, the dean of sportscasters in South Dakota, is a veteran of 40 years in the broadcasting and sport-casting field, with 34 years at KELO. He is a past writers Association, recipient of the NCAA Award of Merit and 1981 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award by the South Dakota High School Activities Association.
