Fenske remains the only four-time All-American cross country runner in program history. With Fenske in the lineup, the Coyotes won three North Central Conference championships, two North Central Regional titles and a national championship in 1997. South Dakota placed third at nationals in 1998 and finished no lower than ninth during Fenske's four seasons. Individually, Fenske placed in the top 25 at all four national meets. His best finish was seventh in 1997.

Dr. Fenske attended USD for five years. He graduated from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2003. He is the owner of Kingsway Chiropractic in Lakeville, Minn.
