Renee (Steeve) Kettwick, a native of Clarinda, IA, ranks as one of the best guards in women's basketball history of South Dakota. Upon her graduation in 1982, she was USD's all-time scoring leader with 1,306 points. Playing guard, Kettwick set or tied 12 school records during her career. She played in 107 games, recording 147 career steals and had a steak of 23 consecutive fee throws made. Kettwick made 15 to 16 free throws vs. Iowa on Jan. 17, 1981. She led USD in scoring in 1979-80 (13.7 ppg) and 1980-81 (14.2 ppg). She had a career high of 28 points vs. Nebraska-Omaha on Feb. 20, 1977. A two-time captain, Kettwick was a standout softball player leading the Coyotes in batting as a senior second baseman and played 114 games in a stellar career. She holds the school record for fewest strikeouts in a season (0 in 79 at bats, 1982) and for her career (10 strikeouts in 335 at bats from 1979-82). When she left USD, she also was the school record holder in walks (42), putouts (234), games played (114), and sacrifices (41).
